Arnhem veteraan Mr. Lawrence Martin (Lol) overleden

Afgelopen zondagochtend is Arnhem Veteraan Mr. Lawrence Martin, bij velen bekend als Lol of Larry Martin, overleden. Hieronder het bericht afkomstig van de Facebookpagina van The Arnhem Boys

Lol passed away on Sunday morning and our deepest sympathies and condolences go to Sue, Ray, Carl and the rest of the Martin family. The Martins have been keen supporters of The Arnhem Boys for many years, and last year kindly donated the huge Arnhem Boys banner that they had custom made for us.
As you probably saw on our site, It’s barely 2 weeks since Lol and Ray were in Oosterbeek with the Veterans Taxi Charity. The trip was supposed to coincide with the re-opening of The Hartenstein Museum, which sadly had to be cancelled at the last minute because of the corona-virus. On the plus side Lol and several of his brothers in arm, got to visit a few historic sites around Oosterbeek. Lol also managed to make it to the Schoonoord for a couple of pints with Alex and Tom.

Lol was an amazing Guy, a 5ft 1 and 1/2” pocket rocket. I’m sure many of you will have met him on one of his many trips to Arnhem, always assisted by son in law Ray and Grandson Carl. 

A proud Yorkshire Man, with a cracking smile. He would light up any room he entered. Always ready for a photo opportunity, especially if you were a good looking young Lady. 
Alex, Tom and I have spent many happy hours in his company, and we’ll all miss him tremendously.

The family have kindly asked for the following to be included.

“We would like to thank all who knew and loved Dad and for their kindness towards him. Special thanks to Alex De Groot, Tom Letteboer and Andy Gough who all opened their hearts to him. 
Lol was an amazing person who loved life, and his family feel blessed to have had him for so long. Another shining star that has now been extinguished. There are really too many people to thank individually but you all know who you are. 
We wish you all as good a life as Lol had. Stay safe.
