Everton are weighing up a move for Vitesse Arnhem goalkeeper Eloy Room

Everton are weighing up a move for goalkeeper Eloy Room as they seek further back-up for Jordan Pickford.
Expected to sit behind Maarten Stekelenburg, the 28-year-old has been earmarked as a possible replacement for the now third-choice Joel Robles, who is discussing a return to Spain with Deportivo La Coruna.

Room, like new Everton signing Cuco Martina, is a Curacao international though born in Nijmegen, Holland. He plays for Vitesse Arnhem and has one year left on contract.

Everton are also among the clubs to have enquired about Hull City winger Kamil Grosicki. Everton tried to sign the 29-year-old Poland international last year while he was at Rennes.

Room has become Vitese's first-choice goalkeeper in recent years, and having been with the club since the age of 13, he has now made more than 150 appearances for Vitesse.

Room recently turned down a new contract offer from the Eredivisie club and is thought to be eyeing the exit.

Vitesse coach Henk Fraser confirmed last week that Room is likely to be sold.

'Everyone has ambition, both the player and Vitesse,' said Fraser. 'There is also a lot of interest in him.

'Room knows how highly I think of him, but this is obviously his own choice.'
